Dr. Peter Graneau Passes

graneaueThe world has lost a wonderful man and important scientist. Dr. Peter Graneau passed away on February 25 at the age of 92. From late 2006 until 2012, Peter was a technical editor for Infinite Energy. His efforts on our behalf were invaluable.

Peter received his B.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Nottingham (England). He emigrated to the U.S. in 1967 and became a research scientist at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in 1971. In the early 1980s, Peter set up an electrodynamics laboratory at MIT, with funding from the National Science Foundation and the Department of Energy. Graneau’s experiments with railguns led him to seek solutions based on Ampere's original force law as an alternative to the unsatisfactory solutions of conventional electrodynamics.

Peter was a Visiting Professor at Northeastern University from 1985 until his retirement in 1990. After his retirement, he directed an international team engaged in research on the arc liberation of hydrogen bond energy from water.

Peter has been well-known in the new energy community since the 1980s. He and his son, Dr. Neal Graneau, published many papers and books demonstrating that Amperian action-at-a-distance mechanics explain many phenomena regarded as anomalies in mainstream science. They co-authored Newton Versus Einstein: How Matter Interacts with Matter (1993), Newtonian Electrodynamics (1996) and In the Grip of the Distant Universe: The Science of Inertia (2006). In 2006, Peter and Neal put together a collection of many of their papers, Unlimited Renewable Solar Energy from Water, and made it exclusively available through Infinite Energy. Peter is also the author of Ampere-Neumann Electrodynamics of Metals (1985) and Underground Power Transmission: The Science, Technology and Economics of High Voltage Cables (1979). 2007

The Natural Philosophers Database has an extensive list of Peter’s papers available.

Read the complete memorial obituary, written by Peter's son Neal Graneau and containing colleague tributes.

Many of Peter Graneau's Infinite Energy papers and editorials are available for free or purchase on our site.
